Purpose

This aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark is located in Umnugovi province in southern Mongolia, an area recognized for its exceptional geological features and cultural heritage.

The region includes deserts, cliffs, fossil-rich sites, and landscapes shaped over millions of years, alongside communities that have maintained traditional ways of life connected to the land.

The geopark initiative supports the protection of geological and cultural heritage while promoting education, research, and sustainable tourism.

The area is currently being developed as an aspiring UNESCO Global Geopark through coordinated efforts with local communities, government, and international partners.
